It's day two of classes and I'm already stressing out.
I had my first day back at work tonight and all was fine. The employees still respect me far more than I was ever respected back home and I can have intelligent conversations with the people around me.
Classes have been going fine, except for the fact my schedule just changed yet again and I now have to go back to the bookstore and change my load of books. Yippee. The only good thing about that is that my books are free. Yay PSEO.
My Great Aunt is not doing so well and quite a lot of my extended family has come to Winona to surround her with love and prayers. The only problem with that is that they're all coming to the house I'm staying in and are slightly less than quiet. Hopefully I'll get some amount of sleep tonight.
I miss Erik like crazy and have already planned to come up and see him. I got my shifts covered at work and still feel guilty about it beings it was my first week back.
So why am I stressing out, you ask? I wish I knew. Maybe it's the fact that things are changing and haven't gotten into a rhythm yet. Maybe it's my totally new environment. Maybe I'm just going insane. Anything is possible. Part of me just feels like I really am going crazy. I have no reason to feel this way and realistically, no reason to entrust you, my readers, with this information; assuming anyone does actually read my randomness....

Sigh...
Welcome to day one of eating lunch alone in the cafeteria. This was my life every day last year and while I got plenty of reading done, it wasn't particularly enjoyable. That's one good thing about living off campus this year. It's not blatantly obvious that I'm extremely introverted and socially awkward because people eat alone at their houses all the time. The trouble with that is it's not very convenient to run home all the time to kill some time.
I guess I'll just embrace my awkward independence and go with it. After all, it's only the second day of classes.
One last thing: jalapeƱo ketchup is AMAZING.
Ta ta for now.

Day One
Here we go. Sitting in my first class waiting for the prof to arrive and the torture to begin. And of course, the first class of the semester is Oral Interpretation. I still don't even know what to expect. Hopefully all goes well enough.
On the bright side, on the bike ride up to campus today, my poptart got warmed up and is now slightly gooey and delicious on the inside. Yummm!

Learning
Welp, classes start tomorrow so naturally, I have nothing ready. It's just about 11 pm and I'm still looking over and changing my schedule. This shit is stressful!
As of right now I'm taking kinda stupid classes. I only got into a couple that I wanted and some of them I'm only taking because I need them to graduate and fulfill goals. The only bright side to that is that my classes don't start until 11 am at the earliest. Whew sleeping in!
Here's my current schedule... bound to change in the next day or so...
Monday: Oral Interpretaion, Human Biology, and Introduction to Art
Tuesday: Just War Tradition and Classical Mythology
Wednesday: Oral Interpretation, Contemporary Activites: Nia-muscular, Human Bio, and Intro to Art
Thursday: Just War Tradition and Classical Mythology
Friday: Oral Interpretation and Human Bio
It totals 16 credits, which for me really isn't very many but maybe that's not such a bad thing since I also am going to at least try to work. Needless to say, it should be an interesting semester.
Plus, to top everything off, my boyfriend just moved about 7 hours away from me. I know he's going to a great school that has a great program for what he's going into but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck.
Alright, now that I've dwelled on all of the negative things about to happen to me, maybe I should put my time to good use and get some crap ready for classes and then maybe get some sleep... I wish.
Nighty Night all!

Books, Books, Books... My Life
In my mini bio thingy, I wrote I would blog about the books I was reading at the time and well since I've been super bad at blogging consistently, I'll just tell you about the books I have read thus far this summer.
Untouchable: A young child who is bullied and a widower who works in an overnight cleaning business. He cleans up after someone dies and becomes so disconnected from the world that he started to believe the lie he told himself about how his wife died. The boy becomes attached to a house that recently had a fire and ends up spending most of the time he has while his dad is at work there instead of sleeping. Throughout reading, you start to feel so sorry for what this little family had to go through until the resolution at the end which I refuse to give away.
Edith: Not my best pick but I read it through anyways since it was only about 80 pages long. It was basically about this woman who normally has major issues with men because she's very tom-boyish and slightly BA. Her guy friend of forever sets her up and she falls head over heels in love with him. The end. Yeah... Argh
Jailbird: As lame as the title sounds, the book is actually very good. It's about an escaped convict who falls in love with a small-town lawyer. Scandalous, right? Anyways, she was wrongly convicted and only guilty of being raped and self defense. She ends up on the run to save her life and the life of the daughter she had to give up in prison who was raised by her brother. It's rather suspenseful and definitely a must read.
Fifty Shades of Grey: Yes, I read it. I had to just because of all of the hype surrounding it. The story line was amazing in all honesty and I devoured the book. It was, however, a sex novel and that part was... interesting to say the least. The worse part was that I was reading while visiting my dad and grandparents and my grandma really wanted to read it after me.... Yeah, that was awkward. I managed to finish it just as we were dropping them off at the airport so I didn't have to have a discussion with her about it but it was still weird. I haven't read the rest of the series and probably won't because the ending pissed me off but all in all it was a good book.
Rescuing Hope: The book is about human trafficking and is based on a compilation of true stories that girls go through every day. It's based in Atlanta, GA, and the main character is a fourteen year old who is lured into this horrible life. At first she doesn't even realize what she's gotten into but before you know it, she is nowhere near herself. She gets a new name, new hair, new makeup, and a new attitude just to make it through each day. An organization to stop human trafficking was holding an event in a park not far away from where Hope was staying and by some miracle, she found herself there and was suddenly made aware that she had lost herself. Definitely a must read but it's very hard because it's so realistic. My dad couldn't get through it, especially since he has a teenage daughter.

Fun Facts!
So all summer I've been working my butt off basically. To elaborate, I lifeguard at the local pool, teach swimming lessons, and work at Godfather's pizza. Essentially this means I have absolutely no social life and since my boyfriend works Monday through Thursday from 2 pm till 12:30 am I never get to see him either. It's definitely been interesting but I'm making the best of it and get to laugh at all the things I hear around the pools.
Yesterday, I was deck guarding for a preschool class. I was watching my friend teach these 3-5 year olds how to swim and a couple of them just would not listen. It's completely understandable for 4 year old boys not to listen but we try anyways. As Kim was working with one of the girls in the glass I hear the mom of one of the non-listening boys talking. "Trayton, if you don't listen, we're not going to the library."
I'm sorry, what? That's incredible! Going to the library means I have to focus and get stuff done and I avoid that place like the plague sometimes. I wish going to the library was a privilege or a reward.
I just thought that was cool enough to share with the interwebs. I certainly hope my kids are like that.

Quick Overview
So since I went to Italy and Greece roughly two months ago, I should probably finish blogging about it. I've seen so many things since then that I've wanted to blog about but haven't been able to because I swore I would finish these blogs before I went on to other things.
Here are all of the places we visited:
-Mycenae
-Pompeii
-Epidaurus
-The Acropolis
We also experienced an authentic Greek Evening at a Greek restaurant, went on a ten hour ferry ride on which I got very seasick, spent a sunset on the Aegean Sea, spent all my money shopping in a suburb of Athens, lost my ATM card in Italy, and shopped on a pedestrianized street.
The trip was amazing and coming back to the real world was way harder than I ever thought imaginable. The weather was amazing the whole time we were there with not a cloud in the sky. Driving through the countryside was gorgeous even though we saw things that weren't so different from what we see every day.
Needless to say, I definitely plan to go again and spend far more time experiencing all the culture I can. I highly recommend going if you can.
